Prepare for an evening of side-splitting laughter and non-stop chaos with Noises Off, a hilarious farce by Michael Frayn. Follow the antics of a quirky theatre company from final rehearsals to the disastrous opening night and the chaotic tour that follows. On stage, it's a play about doors and sardines, but backstage, it's a circus of romantic entanglements, missed cues, and endless misunderstandings. Noises Off is directed by Julia Ristow.
All performances at Boeckman Middle School Auditorium
A Night of One Acts will be presented Friday, January 17 at Boeckman Middle School. Director Jeff Udell will direct two one-act plays written by FHS Senior Caleb Armstrong: Walter Clayton and Cactus Juice.
“Walter Clayton” takes place in a parallel universe with technology to bring people back after they die. This one act will also be presented in a competition against other High School One Act groups locally, in sections and statewide in the Minnesota State High School League One Act contest.
Cactus Juice, a story of banditos arrested by lawmen who get drunk on cactus juice, will be performed for the public only.
Directed by Bradley Mariska and set in Depression-era Times Square, Guys and Dolls is about a couple of big city gamblers and the women who love them. It tells the overlapping stories of high-roller Sky Masterson, who falls in love with mission worker Sarah Brown, and lovable rapscallion Nathan Detroit, engaged for 14 years to Miss Adelaide, a headliner at the Hot Box Club. Nathan runs a famous floating crap game, and an ongoing plot line involves his quest for a safe place for the game as Adelaide continues her quest to convince him to marry her. Meanwhile, Sarah, mistakenly believing that Sky set up an illegal game at the mission, tries to fight her affection for the charismatic crapshooter.
Guys and Dolls features a classic score by Frank Loesser, including the songs "Luck Be a Lady," "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat" and "A Bushel and a Peck." Book written by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows.
