Concert is Monday, February 5

The Jazz Band season is in full swing at Farmington High School. The bands recently traveled to Solo/Ensemble Festival at Lakeville South, and Jazz One walked away from the day with the "Best in Site" Award for the second year in a row. The band received the highest score of the day, 39 out of 40 points. A total of 10 jazz ensembles from seven schools were competing.

Jazz One and Jazz Two also traveled to the Augsburg University JazzFest on January 24, receiving clinics from Augsburg Director of Jazz Studies Rafael Rodriquez and Carlos Granthon from the Pontifical Catholic University in Lima, Peru.

The jazz bands will present their recent work to the community at their Winter Jazz Band Concert at Farmington High School. The concert will feature not only jazz standards by Cannonball Adderley and the Buddy Rich Big Band, but also classic rock songs by Three Dog Night, Steppenwolf, and The Beatles.

The Winter Jazz Band Concert takes places at 7:00pm in the FHS Recital Hall on Monday, February 5. Admission is free. The FHS Jazz Bands are directed by Erin Holmes and Bradley Mariska.
