    2017 Farmington HS Hall of Fame Nomination

    The Tiger Fan Club is honored to host The Big Brain Bash & 2018 Farmington High School Hall of Fame induction ceremony. On September 8th, 2018, we will induct this year’s honorees. But before we get there, we need your help! Do you know someone who deserves to be part of the Farmington High School Hall of Fame? Review the requirements and info below. If your nominee fulfills the guidelines, please complete the Nomination Google form above.  All nominations need to completed and received by June 22nd, 2018. Only complete nominations will be accepted.

    Next the nominations will be forwarded to our selection committee. The selection committee for all awards will be comprised of the following: Principal, Athletic/Activities Director, Member of the Tiger Fan Club, School Board Member, select coaches and advisors, a past recipient of one or more of the available awards and select community representatives. The selection committee will choose up to two inductees in each category each year. Nominees for the Hall of Fame awards who are not selected will be reviewed for the HOF automatically for four additional years. Nominees selected will be notified by the AD and will be recognized at The Big Brain Bash and also at halftime of the homecoming football game. All information submitted shall be retained by the selection committee.

    There are 5 different categories that someone can nominate for:

    1. Athletic Hall of Fame
    2. Arts & Activities Hall of Fame
    3. Coach(s)/Advisor(s) of the Year
    4. Assistant Coach(s)/Advisor(s) of the Year 
    5. Volunteer(s) of the Year 

    Here are descriptions of each category:

    Athletic Hall of Fame Nomination

    The purpose of the Farmington High School Athletic Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor those athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters who excelled in their respective sports or coaching/support roles and who helped to bring honor, recognition, distinction and excellence to Farmington High School by their conduct both on and off the field, or court, of competition.

    Criteria for Selection:

    COACH

    Retired from coaching, primary consideration given to success at FHS. Consistently promotes the philosophy of fairness and integrity.

    PLAYER

    An athlete that excelled in athletics during their high school career, was a great representative of "Tiger Pride" and has been out of high school at least 10 years.

    TEAM OF DISTINCTION

    Team whose contribution, impact, winning season(s), awards and recognition create a lasting impact in FHS Athletics.

    AT LARGE

    A member of the school or community who has had a positive influence on the Farmington High School athletic program.

    Consideration given to:

    1. Awards and recognition received.
    2. Years participated or served.
    3. Overall record.
    4. Personal development.
    5. Participation in any civic or service organizations.

     

    Arts & Activities Hall of Fame Nomination

    The purpose of the Farmington High School Arts & Activities Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor those performers, members, advisors, administrators and supporters who have made outstanding contributions to the fine arts and activities of FHS and who helped to bring honor, recognition, distinction and excellence to Farmington High School by their conduct on the stage or any other venue.

    Criteria for Selection:

    ADVISOR

    Retired from instruction, primary consideration given to success at FHS. Consistently promotes the philosophy of fairness and integrity.

    PERFORMER/MEMBER

    A performer or member that excelled in the arts or activities during their high school career, was a great representative of "Tiger Pride" and has been out of high school at least 10 years.

    TEAM, GROUP or ENSEMBLE OF DISTINCTION

    Team, group, ensemble etc. whos contribution, impact, winning season(s), awards and recognition create a lasting impact in FHS Arts and Activities.

    AT LARGE

    A member of the school or community who has had a positive influence on the arts & activities environment at Farmington High School.

    Consideration given to:

    1. Awards and recognition received.
    2. Years participated or served.
    3. Overall record.
    4. Personal development.
    5. Participation in any civic or service organizations.

     

    Coach(s)/Advisor(s) of the Year Nomination

    This award seeks to recognize and honor HEAD coaches/advisors who have had an impact on the lives of student athletes/participants, by encouraging them to succeed and by helping them develop exemplary skills and values necessary or helpful for success in their later lives.

    Consideration given to:

    1. Sound knowledge and competency of their respective program through the understanding of rules/guidelines and coaching/advising philosophy.
    2. Provide a well-organized, safe, enjoyable and rewarding environment for all student participants.
    3. Aware of each student participants needs and their holistic development.
    4. Strong rapport and have earned respect from student participants both while engaged in or outside of respective sport or activity.
    5. Developed a mutually respectful relationship with all officials, judges, opponents, parents, supporters.
    6. Exhibits positive, ethical and moral behaviors within the program and outside of it.
    7. Involvement with developmental opportunities such as clinics, school, community and or promotional programs.
    8. Awareness of the duty to show compassion and humility to all students.
    9. Foster enthusiasm, interest and an excellent attitude toward all aspects of participation.
    10. Responsibility to support and promote good sportsmanship.

     

    Assistant Coach(s)/Advisor(s) of the Year Nomination

    This award seeks to recognize and honor ASSISTANT coaches who have had an impact on the lives of student athletes/participants, by encouraging them to succeed and by helping them develop exemplary skills and values necessary or helpful for success in their later lives.

    Consideration given to:

    1. Sound knowledge and competency of their respective program through the understanding of rules/guidelines and coaching/advising philosophy.

    Volunteer(s) of the Year Nomination

    The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes outstanding individuals whose unselfish and dedicated volunteer service to ISD #192 has made a significant contribution and difference in the Farmington schools community.

    Consideration given to:

    1. A positive attitude as an ambassador of Farmington Schools and pride in all aspects of volunteer activity.
    2. Exceptional service that "Makes the Difference" in creating an outstanding school community.
    3. Enthusiastically promotes and supports Farmington Schools programs through volunteerism.
    4. Superior support for Farmington Schools projects and initiatives through time and talent.
    5. Length of service time for all volunteer efforts benefiting Farmington Schools.

    2018 Tiger Fan Club Scholarship 

    The Tiger Fan Club is pleased to announce it is offering two $1,000 scholarships and two $500 scholarships to Farmington High School senior students.  These scholarships are designed to celebrate the participationof students in extracurricular sports or activities while simultaneously excelling in the classroom and community.  The Tiger Fan Club Scholarships reflect an appreciation for those students who have demonstrated how preparation and commitment lead to success.  

    (1) $1,000 scholarship and (1) $500 scholarship will be awarded to a male FHS student. 

    (1) $1,000 scholarship and (1) $500 scholarship will be awarded to a female FHS student.

    Criteria for Tiger Fan Club Scholarships

    Current full-time (12th Grade) students at Farmington High School. 

    Participated in and in good standing with FHS sponsored athletic sports or activities that are member groups of the 2017-2018 Tiger Fan Club, during grades 9–12 (participant does NOT have to be as a letterwinner)

    2017-2018 Tiger Fan Club Member Groups

    Band, Baseball, Basketball (Boys & Girls), Cheer, Choir, Cross Country, Dance Team, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey (Boys & Girls), Lacrosse (Boys & Girls), Performing Arts/Speech, Soccer (Boys & Girls), Softball, Swim & Dive (Boys & Girls), Tennis, Track and Volleyball

    Acceptance into any post-secondary school as a full time student, i.e., four-year college, community college, trade school, technical college

    No violations of Minnesota State High School League’s (MSHSL) Student Code of Conduct

    Complete the attached information packet, including:

    List the FHS sport(s)/activities you were/are a registered participant

    1. One written reference from a teacher

    2. One written reference from a coach or activity director

    3. Write and attach a School and Community Related Activities Resume (a listing of involvement in activities in school and your community during grades 9–12. This is your chance to shine!  Feel free to brag about all you have done and honors you have received during your high school career.)

    4. Write and attach a 100-500 word essay entitled “What Athletics/Activities Has Done to Prepare Me for My Future.” Share with us some of the reasons you have participated in athletics or activities, and how your experiences have helped shape you.  Let us know what you learned or have taken away from your participation, and how the experience may help you in the future.

    PLEASE NOTE

    1. Scholarship funds are allocated from TFC fundraising associated with FHS sports and activities.

    2. All applications must be returned to FHS Guidance Office no later than 12 p.m. (noon) on May 11, 2018.

    3. Athletics/Activities participation and violation-free verification will occur after submission of application.

    4. The Scholarship Selection Committee will notconsist of any Tiger Fan Club Board members.

    5. The Scholarship Selection Committee will consist of an FHS Administrator, FHS Teacher, FHS Counselor, a District 196 School Board Member and a Farmington Business Person.

    6. Scholarship applicant names will be redacted and replaced by an applicant number after verification of eligibility by FHS.

    7. The selection committee will be basing their decision on the merits of the application without knowledge of who the applicant is.

    8. Scholarship winners will be announced at the FHS Senior Awards Banquet.

    9. Scholarship monies are available after the winner presents verification of their first term attendance at the post-secondary

    The Tiger Fan Club is actively seeking a concessions manager for the 2017-2018 school year.

    The concessions manager performs various functions related to the operation of the Concession Stands for all Farmington High School athletic and activities events. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following……

    Create volunteer schedule, work with committee to develop menu and pricing for the season, purchase, transport, stock and maintain inventory of food and supplies, manage inventory carefully and returnable items are sold back to vendors when possible, educate volunteers to operate equipment as well as prepare food, ensure all concession areas have proper displays and merchandise, maintain cleaning, opening and closing schedule for stands and all equipment, ensure end of shift cash handling procedures, work closely with TFC Treasurer in regard to banking needs for concessions operations, attend monthly TFC meetings or prepare monthly report for monthly meetings regarding operations, expenses, income, maintenance  requests and equipment needs, partner with District staff to ensure proper use of stand. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.  Hours vary depending on sports and activities seasons and the events scheduled.

    Salary available upon request.
