Program Overview

2024 FHS Tiger Softball--A "High Level" Overview

Tryouts:  Begin on Monday, March 11, 2024.

Parent/Player/Coaches Meeting:  Feb. 26th 6:30 FHS Lecture Hall

We would like all students planning to participate in the 2024 FHS Softball Program, along with at least one parent, to attend this meeting.

Eligible Students:  Students in Grades 7 - 12.

Registration:  All student-Athletes interested in participating in 2024 FHS Softball, must be completely registered with the FHS Athletic Department and on the "Approved Listing" prior to participating in tryouts.

  • An on-line registration process is utilized, via the FHS Website.
  • A physical must be completed within the last three years and submitted, along with specified fees paid and forms.

All student-athletes must meet appropriate MSHSL and ISD 192 eligibility requirements.  If you have questions on athletic eligibility, please contact the Athletic Director.

Indoor Tryouts & Indoor Practices:  If outside weather is too cold or snowy or rainy, the tryouts/practices will be held at the Boeckman Middle School gyms.

Outdoor Practices & Games:

  • For the most part, games are played at the FHS Ballfields.
  • Varsity, Junior Varsity & 10A teams practice at the High School.
  • The 9A team normally practices at Boeckman Middle School

Spring Break:  Practices will be held for all teams during Spring Break.  Schedule to be determined.

Summer Teams: Varsity team players should not be participating with their summer teams in games or practices, until the Varsity team is eliminated from further competition in the post season playoffs. Student Athletes on the JV, 10A or 9A teams may participate in their Summer team's practices and/or games. However, if a conflict arises, our expectation is that our Student Athletes will make their High School team their first priority.

Tournaments:  Similar to the past several years, all High School teams will participate in at least one tournament (and sometimes two tournaments).  Many tournaments run their format with Friday night and Saturday games.  However, sometimes all games are played on Saturday.  There are never games scheduled or played on a Sunday.  Teams normally play only three games in the tournament.  If conflicts arise with summer teams, similarly our expectation is that our Student Athletes will make their High School team their first priority.  (See "NOTE" in "Summer Teams" section above).

Uniforms/Equipment/Etc.

  • Jerseys are provided to everyone for game purposes.
  • Solid Black pants are worn for games.   Pants are NOT provided.
  • Helmets, bats, spikes, etc. are NOT provided.  Metal spikes are allowed for all levels of play.  Solid black helmets are preferred.
  • There will be optional player/parent apparel available to purchase separately.
